DAIMLER EUROPEAN CARRIER AWARD 2014

DAIMLER HONOURS CAR LOGISTICS EXPERT HORST MOSOLF FOR HIS LIFE'S WORK

Horst Mosolf has been awarded with a special prize for his life's work at the Daimler European Carrier Award 2014. The European Carrier Award is awarded annually by the Daimler AG to the best vehicle logisticians. The group based its decision on the fact that Horst Mosolf GmbH & Co. KG has been a trusted partner of Daimler for more than 50 years.

"I am very proud to receive this award. Daimler as a customer, and Mercedes Benz as a brand, have accompanied me closely through all these years, and are especially dear to me", said Horst Mosolf. Born in Wittstock, Mr Mosolf established a shipping and transport company in Kirchheim/Teck, Baden-Württemberg in 1955. Since then, the family business has developed into a global service provider with 2,000 employees at 25 bases in 7 countries.

ANTICIPATING MARKET TRENDS

Mr Mosolf, now 86 years old, recognised at an early stage that the manufacturers, in addition to the required transport services with special car transporters, also required additional assistance such as warehouse or service. To be able to offer the expanded services in the vicinity of the factories or the most important transshipping locations, Mosolf also established his company on the European market. Already at the beginning of the 1960s, its first branch outside of Germany was established in the vicinity of Antwerp harbour in Belgium. Horst Mosolf's son, Dr. Jörg Mosolf, successfully continued this expansion since the 1980s in foreign markets such as Spain, France, Poland or the Czech republic.

AT EYE LEVEL WITH THE CUSTOMER

Horst Mosolf never lost sight of the needs of his customer Daimler. Since the beginning of their collaboration in 1960, Horst Mosolf GmbH & Co. KG has accompanied several launches of new vehicle models of the Daimler Group. With investments running into the millions, Horst Mosolf was always a cutting-edge partner for Daimler. For instance, the car logistician constructed a large technology centre and logistics centre in Hambach, France, to accompany production of the smart as an extended workbench. The Mosolf locations at Kippenheim, Baden-Württemberg, and Germersheim, Rhineland-Palatinate, play an important role in the logistics network of the Daimler AG. "If you have a vision in your life that you are striving towards, this also serves as motivation to realise that vision with all the power at your disposal", is how Mosolf qualifies his company's success, which has already been recognised by Daimler five times with its European Carrier Award in the car segment. "Due to consistent customer orientation, we were able to become what we are today – and what we will be tomorrow. Because the development of our group is still far from being concluded."
